Our HISTORY

Established in 2022, the African Hindu Foundation (AHF) is a dynamic, vibrant Hindu Foundation inspired by the eternal values of Dharma (way of life), and the ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family) with an aim to create a strong and unified Hindu community in Africa. Since AHF was founded, it has been acting as a representative of the Hindu community in Africa dealing with different stakeholders and governments as well as collaboration with Hindu organisations and institutions. AHF works for a strong, cohesive and active Hindu community in Africa, aiming to live in harmony with other religious and cultural communities while also being devoted in preserving, promoting and sharing Hindu faith, culture and traditions with others in the society.

Our WORK

We work with different stakeholders to ensure Hinduism is portrayed accurately. We help teachers and students with training and supplementary resources to enhance their ability to teach and understand the Hindu tradition.

We provide cultural competency trainings to law enforcement agencies, workplaces and college campuses for better understanding and inclusion of Hindu in Africa. We distribute resources on Hinduism to media professionals for better, more contextualized reportage about Hindu topics. We educate policymakers and channel the concerns of the community on issues such as non-discrimination in the workplace and the right to display religious symbols.

We train Hindu in Africa with the knowledge and skills to confidently talk about our teachings with their neighbors, colleagues, and friends. We support families with guides, toolkits and seminars to help them discuss Hinduism and Hindu issues with their children.
